Heath first got turned onto dance music whilst living in the U.K. in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Back in N.Z. he started up the weekly Bizarre Beats Radio show on BFM. Bizarre Beats was later taken over by other interests, and evolved into the shop of the same name, now defunct.
Heath started Cyberculture Records, in 1993, providing a focal point for dance/alternative culture not only through its music, clothing, video rentals, art work, etc, but by also being the first retail/environment store offering Internet access and recording facilities. Cyberculture & SoulSonic invariably act as resource centres of sorts for info about upcoming parties – theirs is a near definitive flyer collection week to week. SoulSonic has now relocated to bigger premises at 189 Karangahape Rd.
Heath appreciates diversity in electronic genres and sites outdoor parties as an outstanding feature of the NZ scene.
